Below is how information about your visit to the website is handled:
NAMES AND RELATIONSHIPS
Most genealogy programs today, including the software I use locally, are able to suppress the names of living individuals and substitute "living" or "still living". I have made a careful attempt to suppress the names of living individuals throughout. Sometimes this is not possible, for instance, names taken from obituary notices or other news content. If you are aware that someone is living and their full name is shown here, please let me know, so I can remedy the situation. Please note that for the software I am using to compile my database, it is a date of birth that renders an individual as "living".
PERSONAL DATA ACCESS
NOTE: ONLY INDIVIDUALS WHO HAVE REGISTERED WITH THIS SITE, PROVEN TO BE A LEGITIMATE FAMILY MEMBER AND ARE SECURELY LOGGED IN TO THE SITE DATABASE WILL BE ABLE TO VIEW INFORMATION ON LIVING INDIVIDUALS.
ONLINE PRIVACY ONLY
NOTICE ABOUT INTERNET PRIVACY
Unauthorized attempts to upload information or change information or in any other way, maliciously attempt to make changes to this website are strictly prohibited and may be punishable under the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act of 1986 - U.S. Code, Title 18, Part I, Chapter 47, § 1030. More information about this act can be found here: https://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/text/18/1030
Like many other Web sites, www.lachance.org makes use of log files. These files merely log visitors to the site - a standard procedure for most hosting companies and a part of hosting services analytics. The information inside the log files includes internet protocol (IP) addresses, browser type, Internet Service Provider (ISP), date/time stamp, referring/exit pages, and possibly the number of clicks. This information is used to analyze trends, administer the site, track user's movement around the site, and gather demographic information. IP addresses, and other such information are not linked to any information that is personally identifiable.
If you do nothing during your visit other than browse through the website, read pages, or download information, certain information, as described above, about your visit is automatically generated. Again, this information does nothing to identify you personally.
This information is used only to help me make our site more useful to visitors by learning about the number of visitors to the site and the types of technology visitors use. Of particular use is the browser being used which allows me as the author of the page to make sure the pages are readable in the most common browsers used by the majority of visitors.
